This scene captures two white pelicans gliding through the shadows of the lake in search of their next meal. Taken at Shoreline in Mountain View California. It amazes me that a bird that looks so out of place in the air can be so graceful in the water.

LOVE the White Pelicans! Last year I was driving through south-central Illinois and found a flock of about 20 swimming in a narrow river at Carlyle, Illinois. There is a huge Reservoir there, which I guess has attracted them. I did not know they migrated away from the Mississippi River..and it was only a few years ago that I thought they were only down around the Mississippi Basin in the south. ANYWAY....This is a super beautiful capture of this life-long couple. ;)
